I found an Old Photograph that Rusty sent me several years ago .
Circa early 1980's, CHARACTER promo with Me, Kathy and Rusty, the other guys I don't remember their names. It was a wild time and Rusty gave me a chance to be a part of his band. I am grateful to Rusty for those opportunities.

I just saw this and I am grieved to hear the news.
Rusty (Character/Camp & Co and Gibraltar) had a tremendous influence on my early musical life. I last saw Rusty and his daughter in August of 2001 in NYC at "Bubba Gump". We had corresponded a few times since. I still remember the days (and nights) on Berry Street and the gigs at the "HOP in Fort Worth TX ". I was looking to say Hi today and found this... I'm Sad.
But I believe Rusty's life was one well lived and his musical legacy is one I personally cherish. I am proud to be one of the ones that can say "I new Rusty when..."
Love You Man : )

I have known Rusty ever since North-Hi-Mount Elementary School, Stripling Junior High School, and Arlington Heights High School, and got to see him and visit with him, at the Heights reunions. The reunions won't be the same without him, he was one of the good guys! I always thought it was fun that his middle name was Kent, just like my older brother's first name. Sure are going to be sad reunions, from now on, without him having fun, or cutting up about something! I urge am going to miss him! In deepest sympathy, Nancy K. Altaras😞

My beloved Rusty, you brought love, excitement, and fun back into my life. When we first met, you took great pleasure in teasing me about my good fortune in winning the “Man Lottery.” Of course my love, you were right. You quickly became my best friend; the man I wanted to grow old with. I will always cherish the time we shared and you will forever live in my heart.

I've always admired Rusty. I can only think and say wonderful things about this man. I wish I had known him better---my loss!

I remember sitting next to Rusty in Kindergarten. We were in the Auditorium at Ridglea Hills Elementary when I noticed that the stem of his glasses were held to the frame with a safety pin. His ingenuity was not lost on me, even at 5 years old!

Later, my would be husband "Art" Underwood, sat in front of Rusty at North Highmount Elementary School in 5th grade. After Art got sick of Rusty pestering him, kicking his books out onto the floor for days on end, Art reached around with his compass and stabbed Rusty in the foot.
An after school fight ensued, Rusty beat Art up - and then they were fast friends ever more.
We both love and dearly miss Rusty Cutchin. XPamela

Hi Pamela, I did not know if you remember me, or not, if you forgot, my picture is in Art's Heights annuals. I always had a feeling that Rusty went to a different elementary school, before he came to North-Hi-Mount Elementary School. Like Art, I have known Rusty forever and a day! It's sad to lose so many of folks we knew. I was hoping to make it to the 45th reunion, I've been to the 10th, 20th, 30th, and the 40th, and I had already paid for the 45th one, but my mom is 92, and not in the best of health anymore, so I try to keep an eye on her. Did you and Art go to the 45th? Hope you all got to. I heard through Majel Cooper, that Rusty was not doing well, and when I saw the picture of Rusty, at hospice, on facebook, and I read he had
pancreatic cancer, I was hoping he would make it, but I have taken many science classes, in college, so I knew it would be grim. I think this is what the actor, and dancer, Patrick Swazey, I don't think I am spelling his last name correctly, probably not, I think he was in the movie, "Dirty Dancing", but I believe he died of this horrible
cancer too! It's sad to lose someone you have known practically all one's life, but I'll bet Rusty is smiling down, from Heaven, and is happy we all remember him so fondly, and with love. Nancy K. Altaras
