Giselle Beatrice Esquivel passed away on March 26, 2017 at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born in Havana, Cuba on February 21, 1950. She came to the United States at the age of 11 and moved with her family to Elizabeth, New Jersey.
She graduated from Battin High School, received a Bachelor’s degree from Montclair State College, Master’s degree from Rutgers University and a Doctorate of Psychology from Yeshiva University. Giselle worked for over 30 years as a Professor and Department Chair at Fordham University. She was an active and faithful member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Metuchen, New Jersey and also served on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.
Giselle is survived by her husband, Rene Cordero, and their children Daniel and Kristen. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ruben and Alina Esquivel, cousins, nieces and nephews.
