Edward F Zdanowicz of Edison formerly of Jersey City passed away peacefully on January 16, 2017 with his family by his side. Upon graduation from high school, Ed enlisted in the US Army and served with the 1st Infantry Division from 1962- 1965. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. E-5.
After completion of his military services, he attended college while working as a chemist for Colgate Palmolive Co. Upon graduation, he began his 30 year teaching career at Colonia Middle School. He was a true educator full of vigor and wit. Ed was an avid train collector who enjoyed model railroading. He loved visiting flea markets in search of American Flyer trains.
Ed was the beloved husband of Olivia (nee Virrazzi), cherished father to Tara Luing and her husband Brian and Edward and his wife Donna. Adored grandfather to Erica and Danielle Luing and Benjamin Zdanowicz. Loving brother to George, Arlene, Robert and his wife Colleen Zdanowicz. He was a beloved uncle who had a very special relationship with all of his many nieces and nephews. Ed was blessed with a large and loving family. He doted on his children and grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments and achievements.
Visitation Friday, January 20, 2017 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Services Saturday January 21,2017 at 9AM at the funeral home followed by a 10AM Funeral Mass at St Helena RC Church, Edison. Interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
