It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend William (Bill) Richard Pollex, who passed away peacefully in his home on April 22, 2026, succumbing to his long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Born and raised in Edison, NJ and later settling in Piscataway, NJ with his wife Barbara Pollex, you could always find Bill outside. Bill was truly at home in the fresh air. Whether he was doing yard work, building a new project in the yard, or waiting for a bite on his fishing line, he found immense peace in nature. A devoted sports fan and a handyman at heart, he believed in the value of a job well done and a day spent outside.
Bill’s career was a testament to his adaptability and work ethic. He began his professional life as a teacher, a role fueled by his early years at Middlesex College, where he was an active member of the ADE Fraternity(Alpha Delta Epsilon ). From there he went on to finish a teaching degree at The College of New Jersey.
As technology began to reshape the world, necessity and curiosity led him to pursue computer programming at night school. His hard work paved the way for a long and
successful career at Bell Atlantic (later Verizon). Even in retirement, Bill enjoyed staying active with various jobs and eventually found a second home at the local library. It was the perfect role for him; he thrived on having a list of tasks to complete and, more importantly, a steady stream of neighbors to chat with. Bill never met a stranger he couldn't turn into a friend.
Bill’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, his three sons, Ryan Pollex, Anthony Pollex, and James Pollex along with his wife Erin Pollex and their daughters Piper and Penny Pollex.
He is also survived by his brother, Larry Pollex, and sister-in-law, Connie Pollex; his nephew Fred Pollex (wife Erica Pollex and children Oliver and Vienna); and his nephew Brian Pollex.
In addition, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Giaimo and Virginia Woods along with brother- in-law Robert Woods, as well as nieces Danielle Giaimo (fiancé Shanice), Nicole Abiamo (wife Julia Abiamo) and nephew Matt Woods (wife Casey Cullen-Woods and children Elliot and Olivia).
