William Jones Obituary

William Charles Jones, 62, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2026,
surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on May 14th, 1964, into a loving Irish-Catholic family, he was the eighth of nine
children. A lifelong resident of Iselin, graduate of St Cecelia Catholic School, John F
Kennedy High School, and NJIT. He worked for BAE Systems as a RF engineer for
over twenty years.
In high school he met the love of his life, Deanna Friedrich. Together they built a life
filled with family, love, and laughter, while raising four children—Willie, Allison, Brandon,
and Dalton—who were his greatest joys.
Beneath his quiet exterior was a generous man, who carried with him the values of faith,
hard work, humility, and service throughout his life. He believed in doing things the right
way, taking pride in honest work, and quietly helping others without expecting anything
in return.
He was happiest when solving problems, whether fixing a car, tackling a construction
project, helping with math homework, or unraveling a difficult engineering challenge.
There was nothing he could leave unsolved for long. He found great joy in his third cup
of coffee, sharing his music playlist, shooting pool, admiring a nice car, fixing up an old
one, building sandcastle empires, researching genealogy, and being with family and
friends. His closest loved ones will always cherish his selflessness, that included
reluctantly becoming the leader of his son’s Boy Scout troop, only to compete
ferociously in the boxcar derby. As well as mentoring the first robotics team started by
his children at their high school. There also wasn’t a homeowner skill he didn’t share
with his sisters, daughter, or anyone when they were in need.
Those who knew him will remember his remarkable intelligence, quick wit, his
willingness to help anyone who asked, his quiet strength, and his unwavering dedication
to his family. His legacy lives on not only in the projects he completed and the people he
mentored, but in the family he loved so deeply and the values he instilled in them.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bernard Jones and Ellen (Dalton).
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Deanna; his children, Willie, Allison,
Brandon and his wife Bre, and Dalton and his soon-to-be wife Abby; his eight brothers
and sisters; countless nieces and nephews; extended family members; lifelong friends;
and colleagues whose lives have been made more whole with his steady presence,
advice, and assistance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St.Jude’s Children’s
Hospital, or that you honor his memory by helping someone in need, sharing your
knowledge with others, or fixing something with your own hands—the way he did
