Virginia E. Mostow, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, at Fox Trails Memory Care Facility in Greenbrook, New Jersey. Born on May 30, 1942, to Albino and Vera De Macedo, Ginny was raised in Iselin, New Jersey, and lived in Newark and Avenel, before moving to Edison in 1977.
After graduating from Woodbridge High School in 1960, she attended Newark Beth Israel School of Nursing, graduating in 1963. While working full time and raising her family she returned to school and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1998. Ginny worked for Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy as a nurse and eventually worked her way to Nursing Administration. After a career expanding over 25 years, she retired in 2006.
On September 14th, 1963, Ginny married John R. Mostow, Sr. Happily married for 55 years, until John’s passing in 2019, they had 4 children and 5 grandchildren together. Along with her parents and husband, Ginny was predeceased by her daughter, Susan C Small, and her sister-in-law, Ann De Macedo. Surviving are her children, John R. Mostow, Jr. and his wife Catherine, Wendy Lee, and her husband, Christian, Scott Mostow, Sr and his wife Deborah, and her son-in-law, Michael Small, Sr.; her grandchildren, Michael Small, Jr. Morgan, Kate, Jack, and Scott Jr. Mostow, as well as her brother and sister Joseph De Macedo and, Arlene Slizewski and her husband Steve and numerous nieces, nephews.
Ginny loved cruising to tropical ports, shopping, playing bingo,and movie musicals, with The Music Man being her favorite of all time. She was a kind and generous person and always tried to do her very best for her beloved family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2023, from 5:00-9:00 PM at Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. A funeral blessing will be Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the funeral home followed by interment at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery.
