Thomas Joseph Woods

Thomas Joseph Woods passed away Tuesday July 7, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Rahway at the age of 94. He was born in Gerardville, PA and resided in Elizabeth and Freehold before moving to Colonia in 1960.

            Thomas worked for ESSO and then Merck as a security guard for 25 years before retiring 30 years ago. He was a member of VFW of Colonia, Knights of Columbus in Colonia, St John’s Senior Citizen Club, Colonia Senior Club, Colonia Bowling League and the Colonia AARP Chapter 3459. He also joined a group of friends who he met regularly for coffee at the Dunkin Donuts. He looked forward to meeting this special group of men on a daily basis.

            Thomas was predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years June Woods; and a son Richard Woods. Surviving are his children Robert Woods and his wife Virginia, Barbara Pollex and her husband William, Mary Giaimo, his 6 grandchildren; Ryan, Anthony, James, Danielle, Nicole and Matthew, also 3 great grandchildren Piper, Penelope and Elliott.

            He was a lifelong Yankee fan which he enjoyed watching games with his family. He was also an avid golf player. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be sorely missed by all.
