Thomas Joseph McGotty

Thomas Joseph McGotty passed away Tuesday August 24, 2021 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison surrounded by his loving family. He was born and resided in Irvington moving to Edison after completing building his house in 1972.  He and his wife Gloria enjoyed spending time in Isla del Sole Florida after retirement.

Thomas proudly served our country in the Army during the Korean War. He was a Fireman for Irvington Fire Department later becoming Captain and retiring as a Chief. After retirement he became a compliance officer for the NJ Department of Community Affairs Division of Fire Safety. He also served his community on the Edison township Town Council.

He is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Mae McGotty, his sisters Jeanie Trezza and LaVerne Whitecavage, his brother-in laws James Trezza, Charles Whitecavage, Raymond Rusak and Albert Eleck.

Surviving is his wife of 70 years Gloria McGotty, his children Kathleen McGotty, Deborah Torella and her husband Raymond, Thomas McGotty and his wife Susan, his grandchildren Danielle McBain and her husband Kevin, Kasey McGotty, Jacqueline Bottacari and her husband Joseph, Sharon Covey and her husband Christopher, Michelle Torella and Carmine Torella also 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sister-in-laws Mae Rusak and Carol Eleck and his loving fur companion Fuirdell.

Interment at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union.
