Thomas D Haydu

Thomas D. Haydu passed away on August 19, 2023.  He was 91 years old.  

Tom was born and raised in Plains, PA.  After graduating from Coughlin High School in 1950, he served in the United States Coast Guard and received an Honorable Discharge in 1953.  Tom had a lengthy career with Form Cut Industries of Newark, NJ.  He retired at the age of 85. 

Tom was a longtime resident of Colonia.  He was also a longtime and dedicated member for 60 years of American Legion Post 248 in Colonia.  He was an avid NY Giants fan and enjoyed fishing.  He was fondly known as "Duke" and was "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

Thomas is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Claire Maturino and husband Cruz, daughter Doreen White, son Thomas Haydu and Dolores, daughter Mary Israel and husband Jeff, sister Dorothy Rice, grandchildren Joaquin Maturino, Julian Maturino, Natalya Clausen, Alex White and wife Christina, Joyce Haydu, Ashley Haydu, Daniel Israel, and great grandchildren Sydalee, Sawyer, Luna, Luke, and Lexi.  He was predeceased by his parents Mary and George, brothers George, John, Mike and Joe, and his sister Mary. 

Visitation Sunday August 27, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Day of funeral visitation Monday August 28, 2023 from 8:30am to 9:30am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00am Mass at St John Vianney Church, Colonia. Entombment St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia

Colonia American Legion Post 248 will have a service Sunday at 7:00pm
