Stephen Philip Gruenling, 57, of Toms River passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison from Parkinson’s disease and complications from Covid-19.
Steve was born on November 1, 1962. He grew up in Irvington and graduated from Irvington High School. He then moved to Union and attended NJIT on a scholarship. Steve eventually moved to Colonia while working as an Inventory Control Specialist and Supervisor. He was well-loved by his co-workers during his 27-year career.
Steve enjoyed shooting pool and was in a pool league for many years. He was an avid coin collector and a Yankees fan. He was also a big fan of classic rock and a music trivia buff. Steve enjoyed classic TV sci-fi like The Twilight Zone, and comedies like Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
Steve was predeceased by his father John A. Gruenling. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Gruenling; his brother, Michael Gruenling and wife Laura; brother John P. Gruenling and wife Michele; niece Amanda Gruenling; nephews Michael Gruenling, Anthony Gruenling and Alex Gruenling; and former wife, Cheryl Borowski.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Blessing will be Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 6:30pm at the funeral home.
