Sonia Brand Santiago, beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, formerly of Minersville, P.A., died Saturday, Oct. 3, at home. She was 46. Interment will be on Friday, Oct. 16, with a service at the cemetery of St. Gertrude in Colonia. Originally from Elizabeth, she moved to New York City, then settled in Minersville, PA. Brand Home for the Strong Futures Program of the Catholic Charities of Newark to honor her brother who had passed 4 years prior. She had established a second home for the program only just this month. Sonia had a generous and selfless heart, but it was irreparably broken with the passing of her brother. She has always been committed to family as she has cared for both her mother and her husband. She will be sadly missed. Sonia was predeceased by her father, Henry Brand, and her brother George H. Brand. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Santiago, of Minersville, P.A., and mother, Surie, of Colonia, N.J.
