Shirley Ruth Shaffer passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Anthology of Farmington, Farmington, CT.
A service will be held at New Dover United Methodist Church in Edison, NJ on January 2nd, where she has been an active member for many years. Arrangements under the direction of Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison on January 2nd.
Shirley was born on her father’s farm in Cream Ridge, New Jersey on May 23, 1930 to her parents, Ruth H. and Clifford L. Dey. She resided in Freehold, Eatontown, NJ, Newington, CT, Colonia, Fords, and Ocean, NJ before moving to Farmington, CT in 2022.
During the 1940’s to 1950’s, Shirley was employed as a secretary in the Ordanance Dept and The Post Hospital at Ft Monmouth, NJ. Several years later she was employed at The Real Estate School and Seaboard Metal Products in Edison, NJ.
Shirley enjoyed her church family, traveling, her beach life by the shore, reading and cherished time with family.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Ruth H. and Clifford L. Dey and her beloved son, Brian Stuart Biza, her brother, Carlin C. Dey and her sister Edith H. Ginther.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lamont A. Shaffer, her loving daughter, Lynn S. Neurath, son-in-law Barry Neurath, granddaughter Corey L. Koeller and her husband Peter and great grandchildren Morgan and Chase Koeller. Her loving nephews, Timothy, Jay, Gary and his wife Pat Ginther, a niece Candy Dey Weinberg. Her grand nieces Lisa Ginther, Christina and her husband David Olszewski and their children Olivia and Andrew. Step children, Donna Shaffer, Mark Shaffer, Gail Ulibarri and step grandchildren Toby, Aaliyah and Isidro.
Visitation Thursday January 2,2025 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home followed by a 12:30pm service at New Dover United Methodist Church, Edison. Interment Hazelwood Cemetery
