Salvatore C. Tumminello

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Salvatore C. Tumminello on May 30th, 2024, he was 93 years old. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the only child of John and Frances Tumminello. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He met his beloved wife Mary on a blind date and they resided in Staten Island, NY for 36 years before moving to Absecon, NJ.  They were married for 65 years before her passing 2 years ago.  He worked in the import/export industry for 30 years before retiring as Director of Overseas Operations for Bristol-Meyers Squibb. 

Sal, also known as Poppy, which he was fondly known to by everyone, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He loved to read, do crossword puzzles, he was an avid flower gardener and before moving from Absecon to Colonia, he and Mary loved Atlantic City.  He was always interested and involved in the lives of his grandchildren with a text or phone call, always with encouraging words or praise.  He was their biggest cheerleader.  He was also a great dancer, always impeccably dressed and had elegance and style.  As a father, he was kind, generous and giving. He was truly one of a kind. Although we were not able to keep you here with us, we will never forget a life well lived. 

He is survived by his son John and wife Donna, his daughter Gina Sigona and husband Ralph.  Grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Cara and Joseph. Four great grandchildren, Santino, Alessandra, Roman and Luciano, and his grand puppy Jax.
