Roseanne Kerrigan Goodness of Edison, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park, New Jersey. She was 92 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 25, 1927, she graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School, Brooklyn, in 1945. In 1949, she married her childhood sweetheart, Ambrose Kerrigan. Together they raised four children: Elizabeth, Michael, Kathleen and Patricia. Shortly before Ambrose passed suddenly in 1978, Roseanne began working for the Visiting Nurse Service of Brooklyn and remained there until her retirement in 1992.
Several years after Ambrose passed away, she began dating James F. Goodness, a widower, and they married in August 1990 in Brooklyn. Roseanne and Jim moved to Edison in 1993, where they were active for many years in the Edison Seniors’ organization.
In 2015, because of failing health, Roseanne became a resident of the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park. Jim had preceded her as a resident of the Veterans Home some two years prior. He passed away in 2018.
Surviving are: daughter Beth Lenti; son Michael Kerrigan; daughter Kathleen Divers and Don Vesperman, daughter Patricia Kerrigan and Anthony Amodeo; stepson James G. Goodness and wife, Felicia; stepson Raymond F. Goodness and wife, Frances; stepdaughter Maureen D’Urso and husband Christian; grandchildren and step-grandchildren Mary Beth Lenti, Patrick Lenti, Kevin Lenti, Kelly Kerrigan, Richard Goodness, Christian D’Urso, Francis D’Urso, Zachary D’Urso, Benjamin Goodness, and Ethan Goodness.
Our mother and grandmother will be greatly missed.
Due to the current crisis with the COVID-19 coronavirus, services will be private. Interment is at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery and Mausoleum, Colonia.
