Ronald “Ron” Ravelle, 82, of Colonia, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2026.
Ron was born on December 17, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, to Joseph and Emma Ravelle. He attended Barringer High School, where he spent his formative years and built lifelong memories.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 during the Vietnam War. He was an electrical technician serving on the USS Enterprise. From his time in service, he received multiple medals.
Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as an electrical engineer at IBM, where he worked for 35 years. After retiring from IBM, Ron fulfilled his dream of becoming an entrepreneur by opening his own business, which he proudly ran alongside his family for 15 years.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Carmela Ravelle; his loving children, Sal Ravelle and his wife Debbie, and their children Anthony, Christopher, and Alyssa; Joe Ravelle and his wife Lisa, and their children Lea and Joey; and Ronnie Ravelle and his wife Rose, and their children Aria, Evelyn, and Liam.
Ron was the heart of his family and will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring grandfather. His greatest joy in life was simply being surrounded by those he loved. Whether attending his grandchildren’s games and recitals, spending time together at home, or enjoying family vacations and traditions. He was known for his steady guidance, his strong values, and his ability to always be the voice of reason when it was needed most.
A man of humility and integrity, Ron believed in working hard, living within his means, and putting family above all else. He found happiness not in material things, but in the presence of his loved ones. He shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Carmela. A partnership built on unwavering support, devotion, and a lifetime of memories together.
Ron had a love for the simple joys in life, including fishing, gardening, collecting coins and stamps, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed family trips, especially to Wildwood, and treasured the many cruises he and Carmela took together. He was known for his sense of humor, his “Dad jokes, ” his Saturday night scotch, and his fondness for music, movies, and time spent with family. No matter the circumstance, he showed up with a smile, offering encouragement and pride to those around him.
Even through health challenges, Ron remained strong, never complaining, and continued to put his family first. His strength, resilience, and unconditional love leave behind a legacy that will live on in all who knew him.
Ron will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
