Robert Emmett Stevens , 87, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 at The House of the Good Shepherd Retirement community located in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Robert (Bob) was born February 18, 1933 in Wyoming, Pennsylvania.
Over a span of more than forty years, Bob worked at Hudson Tool & Die in Newark, New Jersey and at Day Tool and Manufacturing in Whitehouse, New Jersey. While at Hudson Tool and Die, Bob played a key role in designing parts for the Apollo 11 spacecraft. The astronauts of this historic flight recognized Bob’s efforts with a personal letter and several gold medals.
Apart from his successful career, Bob was an avid skier and boater. He skied well into his seventies; Bob loved to talk about his “senior” ski pass. He also often shared stories of his wild (and dangerous) class 5/6 whitewater river trips.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Emmett Stevens; his mother, Agnes McGinty; his wife, Evelyn; his second wife, Marianne; and his brother Jack. He is survived by his three children, Sharon, Bobby, and Susan; his stepdaughters, Laura, Chris, and Connie; and his brother Tommy. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Gosselin Funeral Home starting at 10:00 AM for Visitation, followed by the Blessing at 11:00 AM, and the Interment at 11:45 at St Gertrude Cemetery.
