Robert Charles Ciolek of Edison, New Jersey, aged 87, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 31, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of Charles and Josephine Ciolek. Known to all throughout his life as “Bob”, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Kenneth Ciolek and his sister-in-law and wife of Kenneth, Maureen Ciolek, and Jack Niland, husband of his sister, Janet.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Ciolek, who was the center of his life and to whom he has been married for 65 years. Bob also is survived by his children, Eileen, Robert, Mark and Doreen, as well as his cherished seven grandchildren, Alana, Lauren, Brooke, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Taylor and Thomas. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Niland, and brother, Ronald Ciolek.
Bob’s professional life was quite diversified. Before marrying Theresa, he served in the Army as a Private and was proud to have served his country. After marrying Theresa, he worked for over 25 years for United Engineers as a payroll accountant. He went on to work with his daughter, Eileen, at Revlon for many years as a product manager.
Bob was known to all as a true “animal lover”, an excellent and avid gardener, musician (he specialized in playing the accordion in a Polish wedding band for many years) and a handy man who would take on all home improvement projects. Everyone who knew him understood that his wife and family were the focus of his life. His greatest joys were spent with his wife, children and grandchildren on the beaches of Wildwood, New Jersey. He was a devoted Catholic and long-time parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ. His warm spirit, kindness and devotion to family and friends will be missed by many.
