Richard J Walano

Richard J Walano of Edison New Jersey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 97 years of age. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a naval veteran of World War II. He founded with his family Advance Machine Inc. in Linden, NJ in 1971.

Richard spent most of his life in Elizabeth, NJ raising a family with his childhood sweetheart and wife, Lugina (Corsentino). Later on they would move to Colonia before settling down in Edison, NJ. More than anything, Richard loved being with family; from having everyone over for Sunday dinner to attending his children and grandchildren’s proudest moments including baptisms, weddings, school plays, and graduations. In his spare time, Richard also loved gardening around the home, creating beautiful spaces for his loved ones to enjoy. Richard was also a devout Catholic that found great peace, comfort, and guidance in his faith.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Lugina, in 2018 after 73 years of marriage and his son-in-law Robert Boccadutre in 2023. He is survived by a large family including his children, Richard Walano Jr. and his wife Sara, his daughter Patricia Boccadutre, his daughter Gail Saunders and her husband Charles, and Carl Walano and his wife Heather, as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. They all love him and will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday, October 10 at St Helena Roman Catholic Church, 950 Grove Ave. Edison, NJ. Visitation will be 10:00-10:30am. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30-11:30am. Burial services to follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia.
