On September 13, 2023 Raymond E Zafian passed away in Rahway Hospital at the age of 91. Born and raised in Bayonne to George Zafian and Mary (Zelesnick), Ray moved to Colonia in 1964.
Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years,Gertrude (Pevarnik); his sons Raymond and his wife Sue; and Edward and his husband Todd Manes and his cherished grandson Bobby. Ray predeceased by his five brothers and sisters, George, Evelyn, Florence, Eugene and Marie. Ray was beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Ray has been a member of St. John Vianney Church in Colonia for 59 years. Ray retired from General Dynamics in Avenel after 44 years of service. Ray was a multi-generational Yankees fan and enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 15, 2023 at Gosselin Funeral Home from 8:30AM – 9:30AM. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00AM at St. John Vianney, Colonia. Entombment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. John Vianney Church or your favorite charity in his honor.
