Ramon Ramos Melgar Jr., 63, passed away at home on January 17, 2026, in Raeford, North Carolina.
Born on March 26, 1962, Ramon was the son of the late Ramon Melgar Sr. and is survived by his mother Teresita Melgar. Also known lovingly as “Boy” and “Mon”, he grew up in Caloocan City, Philippines and had passions in academics, music and photography. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Ateneo de Manila University and began his career at Computer Information Services and PCI Automation Center in the Philippines. In November 1987, he immigrated to New Jersey, where he proudly built a career in programming at BASF and Johnson & Johnson.
He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children Jeanette Melgar, children Rosella Zapata (Jeff), Rosanna Sazon (Ted), Samantha Nix (Dillon), and Karina Melgar, and his grandchildren Jackson Sazon, Cecelia Sazon, and Wesley Zapata. He will always be deeply missed by his former partner Harlene Komaiko.
Ramon is also survived by his siblings Cristina Abellanosa (Alan), Alfredo Melgar (Junice), Gerardo Melgar, and Teresa Melgar, as well as many extended family members and longtime friends.
In his free time, Ramon enjoyed playing the piano, tinkering with his cameras, keeping up with the stock market, and woodworking. During recent years, he loved spending time on the farm and especially loved being close to family.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
