Peter A McCluskey

Peter Anthony McCluskey of Colonia, NJ passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 79. After several months of declining health, Peter died peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Peter was born in South Amboy, on August 4, 1942, and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1960. He was married to his beloved wife Andrea for 58 years and raised two loving daughters, Denise, and Kathleen.  Peter drove car carriers for Anchor Motor Freight and retired from the rails in 2004 when the company was Leaseway. For many years, he coached young shooters as an instructor with the Woodbridge Police Junior Rifle Association and traveled with the club to matches throughout the country.

Peter loved to travel, hunt, fish, and take motorcycle trips with his riding buddy Richie and friends. He loved old country music and NASCAR, and was so proud of his four beautiful granddaughters. In between his own activities, he spent much of his time at soccer games, gymnastic meets, dance recitals, karate tournaments, track meets, and musicals cheering on the girls. He lived a full life, complete with adventure and happy memories to be shared by all who knew him.

Peter is survived by his wife Andrea, daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Brian Cleary of Flemington, daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Edward Smith of Iselin, and grandchildren, Samantha, Sara, Niki and husband Chris, and Megan.

A visitation for Peter is planned for Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 4-8PM at Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison, NJ. Blessing will take place at 8PM.  All family and friends are invited to attend. Donations in Peter’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
