Patrick J Tanzola, Sr

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Patrick J. Tanzola Sr., 78, passed away on September 4, 2023. Born & raised in Elizabeth NJ. One of the youngest of his time, he began his career with the Elizabeth Fire Department at 20 years old. He worked his way up the ranks and in 1968 he was promoted the youngest  fireman ever to be promoted as Captain. Later he then became the Deputy Chief of the Fire Department and the Dean of the Fire Academy. He dedicated over 30 years of his life saving others.  At home, he was always looking for a project, helping friends and family with anything he could.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine Tanzola and son's Patrick & Nicholas Tanzola,  Daughter in-laws, Allison & Dana Tanzola, and cherished grandson Gino Tanzola. Also surviving is his brother, Carl Tanzola & all his loving nieces and nephews.

Please join the family for visitation at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ) on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. John Vianney R.C. Church, 420 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 12:15 pm. The interment will follow at St Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia, NJ. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the family, friends, neighbors, and healthcare professionals who helped Patrick Tanzola during this time.
