Patricia “Pat” Walsh, 68, of Colonia, New Jersey, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, New Jersey.
Patricia was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Chester and Dorothy Jakubik on July 31, 1957. She attended Bayonne High School and graduated in 1975. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Peter’s University in 1979, where she distinguished herself as a women’s basketball standout and was inducted into the St. Peter’s University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Her competitive spirit, determination, and love of the game were hallmarks of her life. She was not only a fierce competitor on the court but also a loyal friend and trusted teammate to those who played alongside her. Her accomplishments on the court remain a source of pride for her family and all who knew her.
Above all else, Patricia was devoted to her family. She was a proud and loving mother and an especially proud grandmother who cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Her strength, loyalty, and sense of humor left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her two sons, James “Seamus” Walsh III and his wife Lisa, and Chester James Walsh, as well as her beloved dog and constant companion, Teddy. She was the proud grandmother of Michael Patrick Walsh and Diana Belle Walsh.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Walsh Jr.
She is also survived by her siblings, Jack Jakubik (Liz Griffin), Marie Szewczyk (Richard), and Linda Jakubik. Patricia was the cherished aunt of Lynn Syslo (Steven), John Szewczyk (Vera), Tara Jakubik, Todd Jakubik (Liz), and Tricia Pirot (James). She was the loving great-aunt to William and Jack Syslo; Braeden Szewczyk; Charlotte and William Jakubik; and James and McKenzie Pirot.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gosselin Funeral Home. A visitation on the day of the funeral will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Gosselin Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Helena Roman Catholic Church, 950 Grove Avenue, Edison, New Jersey.
Patricia will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to family, and the pride she carried for her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family was the center of her life, and that love will continue through the family she leaves behind.
