Osaze O. Akerejah

Osaze (Osa) Akerejah was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 31, 1992 to Toni Samuels and Daniel Akerejah. He entered into his eternal rest in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Osa was preceded in death by his brother, Nelson, and his father, Daniel.

Osa grew up in Somerset, New Jersey, attending school there from elementary through high school. He excelled academically and had a variety of interests, including art, science, writing, and sports. But his foremost passion was music. The first instrument Osa studied was the viola at Saint Matthias Elementary School in Somerset. Throughout middle school and high school, he developed his musical abilities and performed with classmates informally.

After graduating from Franklin High School in 2010, Osa attended Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, from which he received his bachelor’s degree in 2014. For several years, he was an educator specializing in early childhood education in Maryland and in New York, followed by a management role working with a New York City nonprofit dedicated to helping families navigating crisis. 

Osa continued to develop his musical talents, eventually launching his own music production, composition and performing business in the early 2020s. He performed at venues in New York and New Jersey, and his endeavors included encouraging and producing for other artists as well.

Osa leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Toni, his brother, Akindele, his grandmother, Betty J. Samuels, his Uncle Randy Samuels, uncles, aunts, cousins in Nigeria and the US, and a host of friends and music industry colleagues. He will be deeply missed.
