Norman Medrano Obituary

Dr. Norman Joseph Palma Medrano of Staten Island, NY, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Staten Island University Hospital. Norman was born in Hoboken, NJ on April 20, 1965 to Dr. Eduardo V. Medrano and the late Theresita P. Medrano.

Norman was raised until the age of 12 in Staten Island where he attended Assumption Elementary School.  After his family relocated to Colonia, NJ, he finished his elementary education at St. Cecelia’s School, and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School.  He went on to achieve his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Rutgers University, and received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University. He was the founder and solo practitioner of RM Chiropractic in Jersey City, NJ. He previously worked at The Joint, Premier Medical Campus, The Spine and Sport Clinic and several other clinics in New Jersey, Queens, NY and Brooklyn, NY.

He is survived by his father, his son, Esq. Denys R. Medrano, mother-in law Dr. Albina Kazachenko, sisters Dr. Melanie A. Medrano Bloom (Dr. Scott W. Bloom) of Maitland, FL, Dr. Christina M. Medrano-Phipps  (Dr. Thomas A. Phipps) of Orlando, FL, and brother Dr. Nelson E. Medrano (Arlene Medrano) of Alpharetta, GA, and his former wife

Dr. Natalya Medrano. In addition, he was the proud uncle to Alexander (Alex) N. Medrano, Aaron N. Medrano, Alyssa (Issa) N. Medrano, Addyson (Addy) M. Phipps, Christian W. Bloom, and Caeden (Cae Cae) W. Bloom. His many uncles, aunts, and cousins will fondly remember him. Norman was predeceased by his mother.

Norman was known as a “Gentle Giant.” He was kind, compassionate and devoted to his father, son, family and friends.  He was a quiet, laid-back man of many talents. He was a writer, a historian, an artist who loved to draw, and a master of Trivial Pursuit. Norman had a passion for movies, music, art, musical theatre, concerts, and trying out the latest new restaurants. He was the IT guru of the family, and known by many for his love of Star Wars and anything Marvel and DC comic-related. He was the ultimate toy collector, referred to as the “Cool Uncle,” who knew the hottest toy and where to find it. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh, undying love for and devotion to his family, and his unwavering belief that there is something good in everyone.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Staten Island University Hospital for their care given to Norman.

As Norman would say, “May the Force Be With You.”
