Michael Joseph Fisco, devoted husband, loving father and cherished Pop, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 29, 2024 at the age of 77.
Born in Perth Amboy to Michael and Susan Fisco, Michael was raised in Fords, New Jersey, and was a graduate of JFK High School. Upon graduation, he began working at Raritan Copper Works, where he completed electrical apprenticeship training. It was there that he met his wife, Eileen, marrying and settling down in Colonia, NJ in 1973. Mike also worked at Hyatt Roller Bearing. In 1982, Mike began working as an electrician for Jersey Central Power & Light. He retired in 2007 as a foreman after 25 years of service. An avid skeet and target shooting enthusiast, he was the proud member of the Wayside Skeet Shooting Club and the Lake Island Rifle & Pistol Club. Mike was a parishioner of St. John Vianney RC Church.
Mike’s presence was a gift that enriched the lives of all around him. Mike had a great sense of humor and loved to sing and dance. He was patient and a gracious instructor. He had a strong character and held his ground. He knew how to fix things and if he didn’t, he figured it out. He “kept things” and rarely threw stuff away- this included his relationships. Once Mike gave you a nickname, you were in his inner circle for life. He cherished his time going to The Cabin in Forest City, PA. Above all, he loved being a father and grandfather- his son and grandsons always brought a smile to his face and he cherished every moment with them. He reveled in their achievements and happiness, laughing and retelling stories to all who would listen. Simply put, they don’t make them like Big Mike anymore.
Michael was predeceased by his parents Michael and Susan (Rosmos) Fisco. Surviving are his beloved wife of 50 years, Eileen (Kerwin) Fisco, his son, Michael W. Fisco and his wife, Michelle, and his 3 grandsons: Gavin, Dylan & Jackson Fisco. Michael is survived by his sister, Suzanne Flemingloss (Rick), brother-in-law Robert (Beverly) Kerwin, nieces and nephews, friends and “neighborhood” family.
A Memorial Gathering to honor and celebrate Mike’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 4th from 4pm to 8pm at Gosselin Funeral Home.
