Michael Duran, age 82 of Monroe Township, passed away on December 25, 2024, with his loving sons by his side. He was born in Jersey City on November 24, 1942.
For many years he worked as a Computer Operator at St. Peter’s Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ until his retirement in 2007.
Michael was affectionately known by many as “Big Mike”. He was a big man, with a big personality, and an even bigger heart to match. He loved spending time with his family. With a big smile on his face, he could light up any room. He brought so much joy to so many with his contagious laughter. Michael was a simple man with integrity, who would do anything for those he loved. His impact was significant. Big Mike will be missed by all.
He is predeceased by his mother Mary Kowalski and stepfather Stephen Kowalski, wife Joan and his son Michael Jr.
He is survived by his son Randy and his wife Lori, son Ted and his wife Tonya, and his two grandsons Brandon and Gavinwhom he adored. He is also survived by his brother Stephen Kowalski and his wife Lori, and nephews Kurt, Dean and his wife, Melissa, Stephen Jr. and his wife Michele and great niece, Avery.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home located at 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ. Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday, December 30, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am followed by a mass at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church located at 1410 Church Street, Rahway, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Gertude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ.
