Mary Ann Veronica Jones Robson, 83, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Mary Ann was born and raised on 50th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. Growing up she spent her summers as a camp counselor at Hartley Farm in New Jersey. Later in life Hartley Farm became her whole family’s weekend retreat.
Mary Ann attended Cathedral High School and eventually met her loving husband, Bernie (Pop Pop). Mary Ann and Bernie were married in 1963 and raised their family in North Bergen, New Jersey. While raising her boys, she played the role of stay-at-home mom, Super of the apartment complex on Charles Court, Boy Scout Leader, and Little League coach. When the family moved to Mount Pocono in the late 80’s, Mary Ann and Bernie were active members in their church as Eucharistic Ministers.
After Bernie passed, Mary Ann spent years living with her children until 2016 when she lived independently in Greiner Towers in Colonia, New Jersey. In this senior living building, Mary Ann looked forward to calling Bingo every Friday night with her granddaughter, Jill. Following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Mary Ann remained independent for as long as possible, and transitioned into the care of a nursing home in 2018, where the staff treated her like family.
Mary Ann loved spending time with her family and friends and making people laugh with her witty sense of humor. You could always count on her to join you for a midnight snack, to fold the laundry, or to have a flashlight handy (in case the power went out, grandkids). In her last few years with us, her own memories may have faded, but love never forgets. Her spirit will live on in those who love her.
