We are saddened by the death of Mary Mahr who passed away on December 22, 2023 in her Colonia home. Mary was born in Perth Amboy on April 4, 1952. She was a graduate of Carteret High School and Trenton State College. Mary’s kindness, warmth, quick wit, and marvelous sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her. She was employed for 43 years as a special education teacher in the Carteret Middle School. She truly loved to teach, mentor others, and celebrate her students’ progress.. Her insatiable curiosity made her a lifelong learner. She was knowledgeable in so many areas - politics, current events, history, the arts, etc. and could discuss any topic thoroughly and at length. She was a licensed real estate agent.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Marie (Gaydos),her husband, Richard and her brother, James.She is survived by her brother, Andrew (Sheila), sister, Margaret Warshaw (Robert), sister-in-law, Faye Fedlam, nephews David, Matthew and Luke, great nieces Harper, Emerson and Simone and great nephews, Allen and Sirius.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 1pm - 3pm at The Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ
