Martha Loprete Obituary

Martha Ellen Loprete (Branin), beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, age 92 passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ.  Born on September 12, 1932, in Newark, NJ to Ellen Faye Clinton and Milton Branin.   Martha, along with her brother Milton Branin, grew up in Cranford, NJ where she graduated from high school before embarking on a career in office administration.  Her first position was in New York City’s Financial District, an introduction to a long and fulfilling career at Commerce Clearing House (CCH) in Clark, NJ.

Martha was married to Louis Joseph Loprete, for over 60 years, residing in North Edison, NJ raising a family of five children. Known for her kindness and genuine ability to connect with people, Martha’s life was deeply guided by her strong faith in God, making her a beacon of light and hope to everyone around her.

An active member of the United Methodist Church on New Dover Road in Edison, NJ, Martha contributed significantly to the church’s intercessory prayer group. She was also a member of the Historical Society in Clark, NJ, embodying her passion for community and preserving the past.

Ahead of her time, Martha had a progressive outlook and a broad knowledge of cultures, matched by her high intelligence. She was a gifted homemaker, outstanding cook, and brilliant entertainer, creating memorable holiday gatherings for her family and friends.  Martha was an avid reader with a deep love for nature.  She found joy in the beach, flowers, and especially in her knowledge of birds.   

Martha is survived by her children: Ellen Katherine Loprete, Patricia Loprete, Richard Loprete, Nancy Loprete, and Jennifer Loprete-Sulejmani, along with Jennifer’s husband Dino Sulejmani. She was a loving Grandmother to Melissa May, Vanessa Irizarry-Rayan and husband Sherif Rayan, Modesto Irizarry, Ryan Witscher and Kristine Witscher.  Martha also leaves behind her adored Great Grandchildren, Zayn Rayan, and Kamryn Witscher.   

A memorial service honoring Martha’s life will be held on Thursday, November 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a blessing at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Coblentz at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ 08820.  The funeral service will commence on Thursday, November 21, at 1 p.m. at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, RT. #2, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.

Martha’s presence will be deeply missed, yet her legacy of warmth, wisdom, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
