Marilyn A. Jarosz (née Herlofsen), 90, of Toms River, formerly of Colonia, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 with her son by her side.
Born and raised in Carteret, NJ, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Selmer and Mary Herlofsen. She later moved to Colonia, where she and her husband, Bernard, raised their family before retiring to Toms River.
Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernard Jarosz, and her cherished son, Brian Jarosz.
She is survived by her loving son, Keith Jarosz, and his wife, Jacqueline; her daughter, Erin Danzi, and her husband, Ben; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Jarosz. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Ashley Hawkins and her husband Brandon, Patrick, Jack, and Shane Jarosz, and Anthony and Nico Danzi; and by her great-granddaughter, Leighton Hawkins. Marilyn is also survived by her dear sister, Nadine Lonero, and her husband, Nick and two nieces Monique and Justine.
Marilyn worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist, a role she took great pride in. She was an avid reader who loved to travel and had a deep affection for animals, especially her beloved pets. A true patriot, Marilyn loved her country and was never afraid to share her political opinions. She was also an incredible cook and baker, known for her famous apple pies and lasagna. Her family will forever cherish the memories of Sunday dinners and holidays at her house, filled with love and the comforting aromas of her cooking. She had a special gift for making a house a home.
Her greatest joy in life was her family—her children and grandchildren, and her pets. Her kindness, strength, and loving spirit will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 8:00 to 9:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John Vianney Church in Colonia at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Clark.
