Marie T Wells

Marie T. Wells passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick surrounded by her family. 

Marie was born on June 17, 1944, in Napier, New Zealand and adopted by Harry and Molly Munroe soon thereafter. Marie spent her early years in NZ and then immigrated to Canada in 1965. In 1966 she met her future husband who was enroute to Vietnam. She later found employment in Washington, DC and dated him upon his return. They married in 1968 and moved to Phoenix to pursue an international career. After 15 years overseas in 5 countries, and having borne 3 children, Marie and family settled in Edison, NJ in 1982. She enrolled the family in St. Cecelia’s Parish.  She was a devoted parishioner; a Eucharistic Minister for several years at St. Cecelia’s; a volunteer in many school activities including the famous “St. Cecelia’s Annual Fair” and made many friends over the next 30 years.

Marie became a US citizen and attended Middlesex County College to obtain her associate degree.  In 2014, they moved to Somerset, NJ and enrolled in Our Lady of Mercy Church in South Bound Brook, NJ. 

Marie enjoyed traveling the world, and would often visit lifelong friends; she was even in London earlier this month.  Above all, she loved spending time with her family and watching her 6 grandchildren grow and flourish.  She will be missed by all as she was such a presence in many people’s lives.

Marie is survived by her husband: Norman of 53 years; son Carlos Wells, his wife Jennifer and grandson Rylan of Florida; son Derek Wells, his wife Andrea and granddaughter Annaliese and grandson Evan of Edison, NJ; and daughter Lisa Marie (Wells) Lubarsky, her husband Todd and 3 grandsons: Nathan, Dylan and Ryan of East Brunswick, NJ.
