Marie Christini

Marie Christini, a longtime resident of Colonia, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2023 in the comfort of her own home. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Marie was 98 years old and moved to Colonia in 1966.  Marie was raised in a large loving family and had more than enough love to share with all of them especially as they all grew to raise their own families.  Nothing meant more to her than her family including her husband, her children, and all the grandchildren.

Marie is predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Rose Marrone; her beloved husband, Anthony Christini in 2008; her brothers, Albert, Sammy, Don, and Anthony Marrone; her sister, Catherine Manzella; and her grandson, Anthony Christini.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosemarie Sharkey and her husband Steve of Colonia and Carol (Cookie) Shear of Colonia; her grandchildren, Cindy Christini Buettgen, Jana Sharkey Lynch, Jackie Sharkey Ponik and Jeffrey Shear; ten great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21st from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home (660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ 08820).  Day of Funeral visitation will be held at Gosselin on Saturday, July 22nd from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 9:30 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church (244 Avenel St., Avenel, NJ 07001)

Interment will follow at 10:45 AM at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Children’s Hospital in memory of Marie.
