Marianne Bilicki Remishofsky passed away peacefully and comfortably on Wednesday, January
29, 2025. Marianne was born December 26, 1945 in Bayonne, NJ to Stephen and Stephanie
Bilicki. She had two sisters Dorothy Smith and Marcia Turek. She attended Mount Carmel
Catholic School, Bayonne High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers
University.
She married Edward Remishofsky, also from Bayonne, on June 19, 1969. Marianne loved to
teach, to spend time with her family, and to write. She particularly enjoyed writing poems. She
wrote hundreds of poems and several have been published in various poetry books.
Marianne was a French and English teacher much of her life. She first taught at Abraham Clark
High School in Roselle, NJ before she took a break from teaching to raise their only child,
Meredith Remishofsky Saulnier in 1973. After several years being a homemaker, she returned
to the work force as a substitute teacher at Colonia Middle School in 1985. After her daughter
went to college, Marianne returned full time to teaching as a French teacher for the
Woodbridge Township School system in 1991. She enjoyed teaching so much that she often
taught French at the adult school in the evenings as well. She retired from teaching in 2005 to
take on one last job, babysitting her two grandsons, Andy and Alex. Although she loved
teaching and writing, it appeared that she enjoyed that job the most.
Marianne is survived by her devoted husband Edward, her daughter Meredith, son in law
Michael, two grandsons, Andy and Alex, her sister Marica Turek and brother and sister in laws
John and Diane Remishofsky. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and
neighbors, who she also loved dearly. Finally, she will be missed greatly by her loyal dog
Delilah.
Marianne donated to many organizations over the years so in lieu of flowers, you can make a
donation in her name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Macular
Degeneration Foundation, or to any local pet rescue group in your area.
