Maria Ameruoso

Maria (Rella) Ameruoso passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at JFK Hospital. She was born October 7, 1922 in Palo del Colle, Bari, Italy; the daughter of Vito Giuseppe Rella and Isabella (Schiraldi) Rella. She immigrated to the United States with her husband Serafino Ameruoso in 1952. She lived in Jersey City, New Jersey and was a career seamstress before retiring to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1992. She then moved to Colonia, New Jersey, where she spent her final days with her family.

While retired, Maria enjoyed gardening and growing various fruits, such as mangos, oranges, and lemons on her property in Florida. She also loved being surrounded by her daughter and two grandchildren when they spent the summers in Florida. One of Maria’s biggest passions was cooking and would create the most delicious Sunday dinners with her homemade pasta.

In her final days, Maria was surrounded by her family and now reunited with her husband, parents, and sisters in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta (Ameruoso) Martinez, and her husband Luis Martinez; grandchildren Vanessa and Victor Martinez; sister Giulia (Rella) Tricarico and her husband Francesco; brother Gregorio Rella; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Tuesday April 6,2021 from 9:30am to 10:30 am at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison followed by an 11:00am Mass at St Helena Church, Edison. Entombment Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
