Lynne Soltys, 70, passed away on Wednesday November 17th after a courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis Soltys and Patricia Soltys Hendrickson, and survived by her sister Kathy Soltys.
She was a graduate of JP Stevens High School, received her Bachelor's Degree from Trenton State (now known as The College of NJ), and her Master's Degree in Religious Education from Seton Hall University.
Lynne taught for 47 years at St. Helena's School in Edison, starting as a 3rd grade teacher before becoming the school librarian. She also taught history to the upper grades, creating various programs which honored veterans, book fairs, St. Jude's Math-a-Thons, and helped to direct the annual school plays. The various programs in which she was involved, enriched the education of students. As the Director of Religious Education, Lynne was extremely devoted to her students at St. Helena's School, those in the CFF and RCIA programs, St. Helena's church and her community.
Lynne loved to travel and was fortunate to have visited many different countries. Her passion for theatre kept her busy attending plays on Broadway and the Papermill Playhouse.
Lynne touched the lives of many and will be missed by those who knew her.
Visitation will be on Sunday Nov. 21st from 3-7PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home at 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ. On Monday November 22nd, funeral services will begin at 9AM at the Gosselin Funeral Home, followed by a funeral mass at 10AM at St. Helena's Church on Grove Avenue in Edison. Entombment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery at 11:20AM on Inman Avenue in Colonia.
