Luther D Jones

Luther “Lou” Jones passed away peacefully on June­ 28, 2019 with his loving wife by his side. Lou was born in Jersey City, grew up in Colonia, and lived in Fords for 12 years before moving to Bridgewater in 1988 where he resided until his death. Lou was a proud member of The United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1971.

While working at New Jersey Bell, he met his wife Elaine at Eastern Airlines. Lou and Elaine have been married for 43 years, and have enjoyed traveling together, especially their trips to Vermont. While vacationing, they enjoyed fishing, sightseeing and hiking along with Lou’s brother Richard. Lou was especially fond of his German Shorthair Pointers some of which were rescues. Lou was an avid trap shooter and marksmen. He also loved hiking alongside his wife and dog at Round Valley Reservoir. Holidays were especially important to Lou, as he always hosted Christmas Dinner for family and friends.  

Lou was predeceased by his parents, Luther and Jeane.

Surviving are his loving wife, Elaine, his brother Richard, his sister Dorothy (Joe), his sister-in-law Betsy (Bruce), brother-in-law Frank (Lissa), and four nephews.

Memorial services will take place on Tuesday July 9, 2019 from 10AM-12PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ. Blessing at 12 noon at the Funeral Home, followed by an inurnment at St. Gertrude Cemetery at 53 Inman Avenue Colonia, NJ.
