Lorenzo V. Donargo, 92, of Colonia, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 23, 2021. He was born in San Costantino, Italy before coming to America in 1930. He grew up in East Orange and lived in Irvington before moving to Colonia in 1964.
He served as Seargent in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He worked at Western Electric, New Jersey Bell and AT&T in Bound Brook before retiring in 1989. He also worked as a bartender at Charlie Kelly’s Tavern in Clark, NJ.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Julia (Monetti), who he now rejoins for eternity; his parents Vincent and Stella (Schillizzi) Donargo; his sisters Marguerite Donargo, Sofia Merlino and a brother Salvatore Donargo. He is survived by his children, Maria Shipe (Mark), Vincent Donargo (Linda) and Lorenzo Donargo Jr. (Helene); his grandchildren Matthew Shipe (Kristina) and Courtney Donargo. His sisters Mary Loprete and Rita Basso and many loving nieces and nephews.
He loved family gatherings and sitting by the lagoon at the shore and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation Tuesday April 27, 2021 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison followed by a 11:00 Blessing at the funeral home. Interment St Gertrude Cemetery
