Lois Donohue Obituary

Lois Medley Donohue passed away peacefully at Meadow Lakes CCRC in East Windsor, NJ on February 19, 2021. She was born on February 17, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ.

Lois moved to Iselin, NJ as a newlywed in January 1953 and resided there, in the same house for 62 years. She is retired from J.M.Huber Corporation in Edison after 25 years of service. She was also a communicant of St. Cecelia's Church in Iselin as well as a member of their Rosary Alter society and was a member of their Bowling team for more than 40 years. Lois was also a volunteer at JFK Hospital from 1995 – 2018.

She was pre-deceased by her mother and father, Margaret and James Medley Sr, her sister, Jean Hargrave, her niece, Jeanmarie Medley Durilla and her former husband, William Donohue Sr. She is survived by her Brother and Sister in Law, James and Miriam Medley of Avenel, NJ.

Lois is also survived by her cherished children, daughter Judith Donohue Chirico of Hightstown, NJ, and her sons and daughter in laws William and Kim Donohue of Farmington, MN; Kevin and Mary Donohue of Lavallette, NJ and Brian Donohue of Golden, CO. Also surviving are her precious grandchildren; Laura Ortiz and her husband Lou, Malarie Longano and her husband Anthony, Danielle Hickson, and her husband Tim, Shaun Donohue and his wife Ashley, Gregory Donohue, Vincent and Michael Donohue and (3) great grandchildren, Brooklyn Longano and Lucy and Henry Ortiz. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews and their families, including her niece Sally Zacharczyk and her husband Stan of Somerset, NJ who spent so much of their time visiting and calling and tending to her needs these past few years. Lois is also survived by a special group of girlfriends with whom she shared many games of cards & Rummikub, long talks, day trips, many laughs and travel.

Lois loved family gatherings, especially at the NJ shore home of Kevin and Mary where they would hold “Family Week” every summer. She loved being by the water and cherished her time down the shore.

Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison NJ on Tuesday February 23 @ 8:30 am. All are invited to attend the funeral mass for Lois at St. Cecelia’s Church, 45 Wilus Way, Iselin NJ at 11:15 am on Tuesday, February 23.

Lois has requested that in Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Jersey Institute for Disabilities, Roosevelt Park – 10 Oak Drive, Edison NJ 08837. Checks made payable to NJID.
