Leonard J Kraus

Leonard J. Kraus passed away on August 25th. He was 92 years old. 

Leonard was born in Manhattan, New York and grew up in the Bronx. He moved to Newark, NJ when he was a teenager and met his future wife Gail shortly thereafter; the two married in 1953. For the entirety of his life, Lenny was a devoted husband and was inseparable from Gail up until her passing in 2019. They moved to Colonia in the late 50s where they raised their children, eventually retiring in Monroe Township. Lenny was a Captain in the Air Force and later became an Electrical Engineer for ITT. Lenny was a devoted father to Jay, Eddie and Scott. He enjoyed working on home improvement projects and was a decorated Bridge player, winning many tournaments. Lenny particularly enjoyed taking family vacations where he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and extended family. 

Lenny was predeceased by his loving wife Gail and his parents, Harry and Sadie, and younger siblings, Morty and Arlene.

Lenny is survived by his three sons and their wives, Jay and Laurie, Eddie and Alyse, Scott and Lois and his adopted children Ray and Michele. Lenny leaves behind 8 devoted grandchildren, Kyle, Keith and his wife Jaclyn, Ben, Becca, Beth, Sam, Justin and Brianna. 

Shiva will be observed at 858 Nancy Way, Westfield NJ on Tuesday August 29th and Wednesday August 30th from 7:00-9:00 PM.
