Obituary

Dearest father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. 

​Karl Gerlak passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home, Edison, N.J.  He was 100 years old.

​Karl was born in Jersey City, N.J., on September 4, 1921. He resided in Elizabeth, N.J., before moving to Colonia, N.J., in 1969.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on board the USS Midway as an airplane mechanic.  Karl was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 91. He retired from General Motors in Clark, N.J.  He was a master of many trades and could repair anything. He enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and filling up his basement and garage.  He loved travel, gardening, woodworking and his family. He will be missed by many.

​Surviving are his sister, Irene Sobieski, his five children, Thomas and Anthony Gerlak, Carol Henderson (Thomas Henderson), Janet Addesso (Louis Addesso) and Linda Triebwasser (Jonathan Triebwasser). He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Valerie, Michael, Karla, Michaleen, Darryl, Chelsea, Marc, Matthew and Rachel and 7 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Nicholas, Braden, Taylor, Millie, Calvin and Dex. 

​Rest in peace.

Visitation Thursday June 23, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Services Friday June 24, 2022 8:45am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30am Mass at St. Adalbert RC Church 250 E. Jersey Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ. Interment Mt Calvary Cemetery, 1000 East Edgar Road, Linden NJ.
