Joyce Anne Holmes

Joyce Anne Holmes passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, after a prolonged battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.  Originally born in the Geneseo area of N.Y., she grew up in Nutley and eventually raised a family with her pre-deceased husband Raymond Holmes in Colonia, N.J., for over 50 years. As a mother and grandmother, her selfless devotion, love and memories will live on for generations.  Joyce was happiest around her grandchildren and enjoyed all their activities including music, singing, football, basketball and lacrosse games. She had a knack for creating adventures for her sons and their friends, whether in her backyard or abroad. Summer fishing and crabbing excursions was a family tradition not to be missed. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, she loved hosting the entire family and always made room at her small table for others.  She is survived by her two sons, Raymond Holmes with his wife, Joanne,  grandchildren; Ian, Abigail and Sydney and Jonathan Holmes, grandchildren;  Jonathan, Connor, Caidan and Brady with his fiancé Michele Babino and her three children Joseph, Nicholas and Frank.  Private services for the immediate family were handled by the Gosselin Funeral Home, Edison. The family requests that donations in Joyce's loving memory be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
