It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Wojtowicz, 86, on March 27, 2024.
Born in Humniska, Poland on August 1, 1937, Joseph immigrated to the United States in 1962, settling in Elizabeth, then Linden, NJ with his wife and children. He retired and settled in Wallington, NJ.
Joseph was employed as an electrician for Phelps Dodge, Thomas & Betts and later self employed, JW Electric. In retirement, Joe worked various locations as a security guard.
Joseph enjoyed watching WWE wrestlers, Ivan “Polish Power” Putski , Andre the Giant and Bruno Sammartino. He loved to watch a good soccer game, his Mets baseball team and always felt lucky on a bus trip to a casino.
Joseph is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ursula and Darren Stiles of Barnegat NJ, his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Heather Wojtowicz of Glastonbury CT, his grandchildren Nicholas Pace, Gabriella Stiles, Danica and Roman Wojtowicz.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Irena Folcik of Linden, sister-in-law, Maria Slawecka in Poland, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Zuzanna and Stanley Kij of Philadelphia PA, along with many nieces and nephews both here in the US and in Poland.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helena Bodzioch Wojtowicz, in 1984. He was also predeceased by his brothers Henry (Stephanie) Folcik, Edward Folcik, Marion (Stanislawa) Wojtowicz, and his sisters Maria (Matthew) Kowal and Helena (Zygmunt) Pawlicka.
Joseph’s children would like to thank the staff of Care One Jackson and Evesham, along with Ascend Hospice for their care, kindness, concern and understanding of our Father and our family over the past four years.
Visitation for Joseph will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm with a Blessing service at 11:30 am at Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ 08820.
Interment will also be on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 12:30pm at St Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
