Joseph J Scerbo

Joseph J. Scerbo, 73, of Edison, loving husband, father & grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, at JFK Hackensack Meridian hospital in Edison surrounded by his family. 

Born in Newark, NJ to Gabriel & Josephine (nee Monaco) Scerbo, Joe lived in Irvington and Colonia before moving to Edison in 1987. 

Joe was in the US Navy for 4 years before being honorably discharged in 1975. He went on to manage Stop & Shop in Colonia and South Plainfield until 1981; then as vice-president of Lazard Freres in NYC until 2001.  Joe then opened his own restaurant,  "Savannah Joe's BBQ" in Bayonne, for 6 years before finishing his career with Pearson VUE in Princeton. 

Joe was predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Josephine, his brother Charlie  and his beloved dog Annie. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susan (nee Miller), son Joseph and daughter in law Monika, son Christopher and daughter in law Jordan, grandchildren Maddalena, Gabriel, Hailey, Francis and Caden, his beloved dog Winston, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. 

Visitation will be held at Gosselin Funeral Home (660 New Dover Rd, Edison) on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 5pm-9pm. The Funeral mass will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 10am at St. Helena's Roman Catholic Church (950 Grove Ave, Edison).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation in Joe's name (Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic Inc. 6555 Rock Spring Drive, Bethesda MD 20817).
