Joe Mattia passed away peacefully under hospice care at Center for Hope after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born and raised on Staten Island, NY. A long life resident until moving to assisted care in Edison, NJ. Joe was well known and recognized as a master carpenter, home builder and contractor. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. He was a loyal father and a loving grandfather and great grandfather. And will be remembered fondly by his former wife Barbara Mattia.
Joe is survived by his three children: Joseph Mattia, Bruce Mattia and Kim Birch and pre-deceased daughter, Melissa Mattia Daniischewski . Including 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and his sister Madeline Cretella and brother Ron Mattia.
His funeral service will be be held on Friday, May 16 from 4 to 7pm at Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison, NJ. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Micheal J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
