Joseph Girardi

In Loving memory of Joseph Girardi who passed away Sunday January 21, 2024, at his  home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85.  He was born in Rotondi Italy and came to the United States in 1954 settling in Inwood NY. He resided in Scotch Plains after moving to Edison 55 years  ago.

He began his career as a draftsman in 1960 later to become an engineer in 1974.  Joseph  had a successful 40-year long career with Bell Labs, AT&T, Lucent and Avaya. He held 4 patents for his designs and left behind a legacy of telephone innovation.  Joseph enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, but most of all loved spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years Domenica, parents Michele and  Angelina Girardi and his brother Sam. Surviving are his four children, Michael Girardi and his wife Pat, Lisa Leary and her husband Gene, Joseph P. Girardi and his wife Christine,  Steven J. Girardi and his wife Amanda. His seven grandchildren Timothy, Melanie, Christine, Anthony, Christopher, Ryan and Cameron and his three great grandchildren Kevin, Aria, Eleanor.

He is also survived by his brothers, Gerry and his wife Raffaela, Tony and his wife Maria, Danny and his wife Susan, the late Sam and his wife Renee. Sister-in-law Carmela Zimmerman and her husband Gregory as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Gosselin Funeral Home, Edison NJ Friday Jan 26, 2024, 5:00 PM to 9:00PM. Funeral Services Saturday Jan 27th, 2024, 8:30AM-9:30AM at the funeral home followed by a 10:00AM Mass at St John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Colonia, NJ Entombment St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia NJ
