Jose DaCosta Obituary

José “Zé” António Cabral DaCosta passed away peacefully and surrounded by the ones he lived for and loved the most on January 5, 2022 at the age of 76.  He was born in Vila Cortés da Serra in Portugal on October 1, 1945. He proudly served in the Portuguese military as a Communication Officer. He immigrated to the USA in 1973 and resided in Colonia since 2005.  He was an avid fan of soccer especially his beloved Portuguese soccer club Benfica. He was one of the founding fathers of Sport Newark e Benfica in Newark, NJ. He loved watching soccer games with his family, loved scrolling thru Facebook and telling all kinds of jokes.His love for soccer will live through in his grandchildren. Now you have the best seat in the house, heaven gained the biggest Benfiquista ever.  

José was predeceased by his parents Luis Costa and Maria Joaquina Cabral, brother Agostinho and niece Maria de Deus. Surviving is his wife of 50 years Olga DaCosta, who he absolutely adored, his loving daughters that meant the world to him Carla and her husband Carlos, Patricia and her husband George, and his reasons to live, his cherished grandchildren Marcus, Matthew, Mia and Madison. Also surviving his sister Clementina and brothers Belchior, Joaõ and Alexandrino, sister in laws Celeste, Lucrecia and Alexandrina, his brother in law José Carlos and his wife Maria Augusta, his nieces Virginia, Isabel, Suzete, Christina, and Michelle and nephews Sergio, Bruno(godson) and Luis. 

Visitation on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Rd. Edison, NJ. Followed by a private cremation.
