John O'Lone

John Patrick O’Lone, 80, of the Colonia section of Woodbridge, NJ, died in Scotch Plains, NJ, on December 17, 2023.  John was known as “Jack” by friends and family from an early age.  He was born in Trenton, NJ, on March 16, 1943, to Charles and Charlotte (Richardson) O’Lone.  Jack attended Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ, where he played football until he was sidelined by a knee injury.  After graduation, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Rider University in Accounting.  He served as a supply Clerk in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1965 to 1966.  After being discharged from the service, Jack began a career in the banking industry.

Jack was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marie (Patten) O’Lone and his sister Rita (O’Lone) Sadovy.  He is survived by his brother, Thomas O’Lone and family members Sean and Christine (Huzinec) O’Lone and their sons Connor and Ryan, Brian and Kimberly (Raeburn) O’Lone and Kevin O’Lone.

Jack was a volunteer youth sports coach, coaching baseball, basketball and soccer.  He was an avid sports fan supporting the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Yankees.  Jack was extremely proud of his Irish Heritage.  He was named an Honorary Irish Citizen by the Lord Mayor of County Cork as well as serving as Grand Marshall for the Union County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.  Jack loved traditional Irish music and Irish bands such as The Clancy Brothers and The Wolfe Tones.

Visitation Tuesday December 19, 2023 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison. Funeral Mass Wednesday December 20, 2023 10:00am at St John Vianney Church Colonia. All to meet at Church.
