John Moyle Obituary

John C. Moyle of Colonia, NJ passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024 at the age of 90 years old.

John was born in North Arlington, NJ and graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1951, where he played in back-to-back high school football state championships.

After high school, John enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Tin Can Sailor until 1954.

John then enrolled in Farleigh Dickinson University where he graduated with a BA in Economics.

On June 21, 1958, John married the love of his life, Carol, with whom he spent the rest of his life. John and Carol recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

John became a licensed Certified Internal Auditor and board member. He worked at Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) as a Senior Internal Auditor for 38 years until he retired in 1996.

As a resident of Colonia, NJ for over 55 years, John was deeply involved in his community and always enjoyed helping others. He was a football, baseball, and basketball youth coach, board member of the Merrill Park and Colonia Youth Football programs, Knights of Columbus member, active member and usher at St. Cecilia Church, and a full-time substitute teacher at John F. Kennedy High School.

John loved his wife Carol with all his heart and especially cherished their many summer vacations in New England. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, and all JFK high school sports. John’s family remembers him listening to and signing along to his favorite musical artists, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. His grandkids brought him immense joy and pride. John loved watching them play sports, accomplish important milestones, and just hanging out with them at his house. Some of John’s other favorite things included playing the lottery, tipping too much, and his favorite sweets. He loved all people from all walks of life, especially his family and friends.

John is predeceased by his mother Mary Roberts, his father Milton Moyle, and his daughter Mary Taylor. He is survived by his wife Carol Moyle, his son John Moyle, his sister Mary-Ellen Peck, and his grandkids John Moyle, Daniel Taylor, and Kaitlin Moyle.

John’s life will be celebrated on Monday, April 1st at the Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison, NJ from 2:00-4:00pm and from 7:00-9:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be performed on Tuesday, April 2nd at St. Cecilia Church in Iselin, NJ at 10:15am.
