John Mihalko passed away Friday February 14, 2020 at JFK Medical Center Edison surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Nacina Ves Czechoslovakia he immigrated to the United States in 1947 settling in Linden then Elizabeth and Roselle Park before moving to Colonia in 1964.
John proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a Department Manager and Baker for Burry Biscuit in Elizabeth for 43 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of Colonia Seniors, St. John Vianney Seniors, Colonia AARP. John was a member of the Pope Paul l Knights of Columbus Council #6571 and he was a two-time president and former Chaplin of the St. Cecelia Knights of Columbus Council #3639. John enjoyed gardening and his trips to Atlantic City with his wife. He also liked playing cards and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his first wife Irene Mihalko and one granddaughter. Surviving are his wife Mary Mihalko and his children, Margaret Dukes (Lendel), Bernadine Kahle (Bill), Dorothy Caraballo (Moises), Michael Mihalko (Lainie), Doreen Prego (Rick) and John Mihalko (Lori). He was “Pop-Pop” to 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation Tuesday February 18, 2020 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison, Funeral Services 9:45am Wednesday February 19, 2020 at the funeral home followed by a 10:45am Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Linden.
